Ela Handbags is a premium vegan leather handbag company ela co-founded by Ela & Martin Aldorsson. Their handbags and accessories are made with a high level of craftsmanship and a signature aesthetic.

In 2020, ela Handbags approached Blue Door to engage in a digital advertising and email marketing campaign to drive brand awareness and online sales for the thriving company. They wanted to work with a local agency that had strong industry experience and creative ideas that could drive new customers and purchase consideration.

The Goal

The goal of the campaign was to drive sales, build a sophisticated retargeting audience, and test different tactics that could be a roadmap for their future marketing initiatives in the future.

The Approach

Blue Door developed a strategy that focused on an understanding of the ela Handbags target market. We also conducted a deep competitor analysis to create a strong story matched with visuals. We launched the campaign on Facebook & Instagram with regular A/B testing for message resonance and testing. Our campaign leveraged messaging about sustainability and buy-local themes.


Overall, the advertising campaign increased sales by 350% when compared to the prior YOY sales data. Our campaign resulted in a 325% increase in Online Store Sessions, 264% increase in total orders, and the average online order value increased by 25%. Our email marketing efforts resulted in revenue generation and had an average open rate of 35% which is well above the industry average of 19%.

Blue Door and ela Handbags were thrilled with the results of the campaign, having increased sales by 350% and having gained  strong analytics and insights into their consumer’s behaviors and spending habits.
